    eg Beer Gardens, Bowling, Cycling, Pubs (inc Guinness & Irish), Wind Surfing, Ski Trips etc. Events & trips similar to ones author & others have long organised on Munich's Lists eg: bg, bike, chilli, walk, water, etc, Further Lists at mailman . berklix . org / mailman / listinfo No money, no adverts, no membership fees. no event organiser fees (unlike eg meetup.com), no personal details wanted or stored, no formality, ne e.V. no forms, no cookies, no tracking etc, Simply an mail list to coordinate people co-operating to have fun events.

    Later if mail list gets too heavy. we might split into themed sub lists &/or announcement & chat lists (as some Munich lists did); but for now it's all in 1 here. You have to join the North list before you can read it, write to it, or read the archive.

Caution: Works fine for most people, but unfortunately mailman . berklix .org fails for people silently censored by @gmail.com & a few other bad_domains) as they reject mail from @berklix, (despite @berklix accepts mail from those bad domains).

They abuse their monopoly in a war for email market dominance. After you subscribe via mailman . berklix . org / mailman / listinfo / north, the @berklix mailman server mails applicants a normal "please confirm" email to test their address, gmail rejects it, unseen by you.
The Solution: Dump Google! Get a better address! One that does not interfere with your mail. Examples: @gmx.de & many other providers are OK.

Why the name North:

  • It's simple, short, memorable & people wont get tongues in a twist, not knowing whether to pronounce in English or German, initials "NRW" of a group name that would sound very different in English & German.
  • We are North & West of Munich,
  • North of the Alps,
  • South East of Dover England,
  • In the West but not North of Germany,
  • The Region name is North Rhine Westphalia, a long mouthful, & pronouncing NRW in English & German is very different
  • So North is our short easy name for if a newcomer asks in either language "Are you part of the North group ?"
PS: & WEST, we can debate over a barbeque & beer ;-)
Aachen is West most city in NRW & .de, & was first West German city liberated in WW2
